- Many smaller changes and overall gameplay improvements. - Vector Dalon spent a lot of time working on the ships, planets, battlestations and other models on the world map. - Swyter worked on the user interface, animations, and new models like a power droid that refills ammo, and medical droid that refills health of your troops while in battle. - Pagan added more music and the rest of the team contributed more models, textures, or animations. - HokieBT spent time on improving the shipyards so more ships are available, working on arena fights, adding some random signs in scenes, new merchants at the shipyards, and some other changes.
Reviews of the multiplayer feature in Warband have begun to emerge. So if you're interested in different opinions on the matter - and perhaps thinking of buying it - here are some reviews:
There’s no denying the appeal of large-scale medieval combat with friends [...]. In that sense, Warband already stands in a field of its own, desperate to be crowned king of its niche market
I must say, the game is addictive. The different modes include deathmatch, capture the flag and defend territories. Overall it seems like it’s shaping up extremely well and I think it’s going to be what everyone wants it to be.
Another interview with lead developer Armagan Yavuz talking about the new feature of love and marriage in Mount & Blade: Warband (single player).
It might be difficult to hear all the words and therefore here's a paraphrased - and to some extend rephrased - version of the interview. (made by me, and I take full responsibility for any errors I might have made):
Armagan Yavuz: Another very exciting feature in Warband is being able to have romance and to be able to marry. Basically it was something players were asking for very much, and also, it's a very important aspect of real life, and we wanted to translate that into the game. In the Middle Ages romance for two people of nobility was in many ways different from what we have now, so that has been translated to the game. For a male character it's first of all to be able to meet with prospective ... um ... girlfriends or... what do you call them, I don't know. So basically you need to be invited into some kind of feast where there are young ladies present, and you'll then be able to talk to them. We have put this into certain mini-games. There are lots of things you can do: You can try to learn poetry by speaking to bards in taverns to impress ladies. You can try to impress them by your bravery by winning tournaments. And of course another challenge is that it won't be just a matter of winning the heart of the lady - you have to make her father accept you as a groom as well. Which is all together a different challenge, and for that you have to show that you are going to be a valuable ally.
If you are playing as a female character of course your option is to find a groom among the lords - the commanders in the game. But that's a challenge in itself as well, because again you have different options there. You'll be able to go various ways and you can try to use your attraction and try to marry a lord. Or also you'll be able to make a marriage for political gain as well. So there are lots of different challenges there as well because at that point - for example you have to make sure the groom you have selected will not object to the idea of marrying someone who's a better fighter than himself. So it will be a different kind of challenge.
At the recent Paradox Interactive Convention Armagan Yavuz - lead developer - was interviewed about the multiplayer feature in Warband. Warband is the expansion to Mount & Blade scheduled for release March 16. 2010.

With the release of Warband beta version 0.700 the new map has been revealed. As expected the Sarranid Sultanate is situated in desert terrain, fairly secluded in the southern part of the map. There is more coastline with fjords and peninsulas. A large portion of the map is in fact one large peninsula stretching westward into the sea, with desert to the south and snow to the north. The Vaegirs still inhabit the snowy region where Tundra Bandits now roam. The factions have also been given new colours:
The Sarranids are yellow. The Rhodoks are now green. The Nords are now blue/teal. The Vaegirs are now beige/white'ish. The Khergits are still purple. The Swadians are still orange.
When the upcoming expansion Warband was first presented it was with the news that a new faction would be added. According to IGN the new faction is called Sarranid Sultanate, based on medieval Arab cultures. They live in desert area, a new addition to the overland map that has still to be revealed. A new architectural design has been made for the 'Sarranids'. Here are some screenshots:

After some time due to a January first massive hangover, here are the results of the MFB 2009 Screenshot competition! You can see the winning screenshot just below.
We thank and wish good luck for the next competition to the others participants, Xopur, Weren, and Lord Aedin, they actually submitted very nice screenshots too.
Adorno easily won the contest with more than 40% of votes cast in this poll, with this screenshot of these two vikings boats near a village.
So we're happy to announce that he wins the famous MFB T-shirt. As you can see on this picture on the right that he put in his profile, he really needed a t-shirt anyway ! :)
Today we added a new mod to our "Mods & Addons" section, this is Song of Taliesin, a dark ages mod taking place in northern Britain during the 6th century. It features wars of Britons, Anglo-Saxons, Picts and Dal Riadan Scots.
As Kolba nicely wrote it, this mod seeks to replicate the brutality, danger, and general atmosphere of the Dark Ages, an early period of Medieval.
We are trying to make as historicaly accurate, as we can, to make an excellent springboard from many mods, which are not always accurate. Note that a lot of stuff in this period is strongly hypothetical - text sources tend to be very scant for these times. However archeology give us a lot of information, so it's our main source telling us, what happened after Romans withdrew from Britain. Let me present you all features of this mod!
The MountFanBlade team wishes the M&B community a very happy and successful 2010. Our thanks go out to all those mod makers, designers, script developers, scenery and texture artists, and all others who make the community enjoy this game so much!
Also for us as MFB staff it has been a hard working year with the launch of the website, and a very successful experience, and it seems that you like it, since for this last month we reached several times 1000 visitors by day !
Thank you so much and long life to Mount&Blade/Warbands community !
The famous The Last Days mod, based on Lord of the rings, is still being converted and enhanced for current version of Mount & Blade. The team posted five screenshots as a Christmas gift to the community in this thread in the TW Forums.
