Interview with Armagan about love and marriage in Warband

Another interview with lead developer Armagan Yavuz talking about the new feature of love and marriage in Mount & Blade: Warband (single player). It might be difficult to hear all the words and therefore here's a paraphrased - and to some extend rephrased - version of the interview.(made by me, and I take full responsibility for any errors I might have made):Armagan Yavuz:Another very exciting feature in Warband is being able to have romance and to be able to marry.Basically it was something players were asking for very much, and also, it's a very important aspect of real life, and we wanted to translate that into the game.In the Middle Ages romance for two people of nobility was in many ways different from what we have now, so that has been translated to the game. For a male character it's first of all to be able to meet with prospective ... um ... girlfriends or... what do you call them, I don't know.So basically you need to be invited into some kind of feast where there are young ladies present, and you'll then be able to talk to them.We have put this into certain mini-games. There are lots of things you can do:You can try to learn poetry by speaking to bards in taverns to impress ladies. You can try to impress them by your bravery by winning tournaments. And of course another challenge is that it won't be just a matter of winning the heart of the lady - you have to make her father accept you as a groom as well.Which is all together a different challenge, and for that you have to show that you are going to be a valuable ally.If you are playing as a female character of course your option is to find a groom among the lords - the commanders in the game. But that's a challenge in itself as well, because again you have different options there. You'll be able to go various ways and you can try to use your attraction and try to marry a lord.Or also you'll be able to make a marriage for political gain as well.So there are lots of different challenges there as well because at that point - for example you have to make sure the groom you have selected will not object to the idea of marrying someone who's a better fighter than himself. So it will be a different kind of challenge.

The Vaegirs still inhabit the snowy region where Tundra Bandits now roam. The factions have also been given new colours: The Sarranids are yellow. The Rhodoks are now green. The Nords are now blueteal. The Vaegirs are now beigewhite'ish. The Khergits are still purple. The Swadians are still orange.

Song of Taliesin (v 1.0) released

Today we added a new mod to our "Mods & Addons" section, this is Song of Taliesin, a dark ages mod taking place in northern Britain during the 6th century. It features wars of Britons, Anglo-Saxons, Picts and Dal Riadan Scots. As Kolba nicely wrote it, this mod seeks to replicate the brutality, danger, and general atmosphere of the Dark Ages, an early period of Medieval. We are trying to make as historicaly accurate, as we can, to make an excellent springboard from many mods, which are not always accurate. Note that a lot of stuff in this period is strongly hypothetical - text sources tend to be very scant for these times. However archeology give us a lot of information, so it's our main source telling us, what happened after Romans withdrew from Britain. Let me present you all features of this mod!
